Description

OpenMediaVault is a network-attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. It provides a web-based interface for managing storage, sharing files, and running various services on a dedicated server.

Key features:
- Web-based administration
- File sharing (SMB, FTP, NFS)
- RAID management
- Plugin system
- Docker support
- Backup solutions
- Media server integration

How It Helps

OpenMediaVault is the foundation of my self-hosted infrastructure:

Centralized Storage: All my files, projects, backups, and media are stored in one central location that I can access from anywhere on my network.

Data Backup: I use OMV to create automated backups of my important data, ensuring I never lose critical files or project work.

Media Management: I can store and stream my media library (photos, videos, music) from a central location, accessible to all my devices.

Project Files: All my development projects, documentation, and resources are stored on OMV, making it easy to access them from any device.

Reliability: With RAID support and proper backup strategies, I have redundancy for my important data, protecting against hardware failures.

Cost Effective: Instead of paying for cloud storage subscriptions, I have unlimited storage capacity that I control completely.

Learning Platform: Running OMV has taught me a lot about Linux administration, networking, and storage management.
